The trend to eat healthier and fresher food has made agro-exports grow worldwide, expecting this year an increase of 12.1% translated in value to 1,715 billion dollars, almost 200 billion more than last year.

This has completely benefited Peru, because with the boom in its agricultural production and the quality of its fresh products, it has been one of the countries that has benefited the most from the new food trend.

Édgar Vásquez, director of the Global Economy and Business Research Center of the Association of Exporters (CIEN - ADEX), commented that in order to continue taking advantage of the growth of agro-exports, joint work must be carried out between the government and agro-producers in order to drive sustained growth and reach 2022 as a strong agricultural powerhouse.

Speaking as a percentage, a 19% growth is expected in agricultural exports of fruits and vegetables thanks to the fact that they have a significant expansion and more and more people are joining a healthy food trend, with Peru being a cradle of fresh and healthy food that it hopes to share with world markets making it a crucial supplier.

In addition, a greater demand in foreign countries has caused the increase in prices, hence the remarkable growth in value of agro-exports, however, producers also expect to go from a 13.5% increase in value this year, to an increase of 1% for next year.
