17.6% of non-traditional agro-exports are Peruvian

Peruvian agriculture continues to grow and innovate its production techniques to produce fruits with the best possible quality under compliance with all the necessary protocols for export to destination countries. This is how non-traditional Peruvian agro-exports continue to position themselves as one of the most select worldwide.

This 2021 has gotten off to a good start for Peruvian agriculture since only between January and February it has managed to represent 17.6% of non-traditional agricultural exports to the world, being one of those that has had a better and faster recovery in its shipments.

According to the Peruvian Foreign Trade Society (Comex Peru), in the first two months of this year, exports totaled 1,303 million dollars, increasing by 13.5% compared to the same period in 2020.

In this brief period, the most exported fruits have been fresh grapes, whose exports increased by 27.1% and obtained 509 million dollars; mangoes, with 166 million dollars and 3.5% growth; blueberries, which achieved 45 million dollars and an increase of 25.6%; avocados, which earned 166 million dollars and grew by 76.2%

Onions and shallots stood out as a whole, obtaining 22 million dollars for their purchase and a growth of 94%. And among the products that presented lower export percentages than last year are quinoa, with 14 million dollars and -24.6%, and fresh asparagus, with 44 million dollars and -16.9%.

In total, traditional and non-traditional Peruvian exports totaled 7,388 million dollars only between January and February 2021, according to data provided by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Mincetur.
