Shipment of traditional Peruvian grapes will grow 12%
The season for traditional Peruvian grapes in all its varieties is already nearing the end of the campaign, so we could soon see if the projections for this 2020/2021 season were correct or were very far from coming true.

The traditional red and green grape varieties will be reaching the end of the harvest the third week of February, the registered varieties will do so at the end of February; while organic grapes are scheduled to end their harvest for the beginning of March.
From the beginning of the campaign until week 5, 48 million boxes of Peruvian table grapes were exported, 12 million boxes more than in the same period of the previous season.
As the harvest of fresh grapes in the Piura region is already nearing completion, it is expected that the final number of boxes of exported grapes will rise to 52 or 54 million, which would become a growth of 12% compared to the campaign. 2019/2020, according to Vanguard International.
What varieties of traditional Peruvian grapes were the most exported?
So far, the Red Globe variety has managed to be placed with 14 million packed boxes, 2% more than last year; however, the production of this variety is expected to be limited in the coming weeks.
The countries that imported Peruvian Red Globe grapes were China in the first place with 2 million 163 thousand 152 boxes, followed by the United States with one million 42 thousand 159 boxes, then there is Colombia with 675 thousand 718 boxes, followed by Indonesia with 422 thousand 280 boxes , Taiwan with 227 thousand 834 boxes and Korea with 188 thousand 520 boxes.
With regard to green grapes, 16 million boxes have been shipped so far, 31% more than last year. The variety that showed the highest growth was Sweet Globe with + 48% which in turn represented 60% of all green seedless grapes shipped.
The Sugraone variety was the one that presented a greater decrease in its shipments, these being 30% lower than those of last year.
