According to the general manager of Terra Business, Federico Beltrán Molina, the country currently has 15 thousand hectares of blueberries and in 3 years it will have 20 thousand hectares of said fruit, which will allow it to consolidate itself as the largest blueberry exporter.

To mention statistics, there are 200 thousand hectares of this fruit around the world and Peru stands out as one of the most competitive countries in this global industry since 65% of the 15,000 hectares of blueberries that currently exist in Peru have been planted with varieties. protected, which represents a competitive advantage for our country.

Currently, our country offers the world 50 varieties of blueberries that come from 12 genetic programs. It should be noted that in a few years Peru has incorporated technologies and all the complexity of modern agriculture or also called agriculture 4.0 to improve the quality and condition of the fruits in the markets to which they are destined. These destinations are divided into 50% to the United States, 35% to Europe and 15% to Asia.

However, the cultivation of this fruit continues to increase throughout the world and not only in Peru. Countries like China, which has doubled its imports of blueberries from our country.

The demand for this fruit is due to the fact that much clinical research has been carried out regarding blueberries, which has concluded that it is one of the healthiest fruits in the world. According to the latest medical research, it is recommended that each person consume 128 grams of blueberries per day, this in order to prevent different diseases.
