Russia: The giant who loves Peruvian fruits

From 2018 to 2020, Peruvian fruits exports to Russia have increased by 89%, going from 66 to 124 million dollars in income, giving fruits the position of the first Peruvian product imported by Russia, with 60% of the participation reaching position 13 with more shipments to the Eurasian country.

The most frequently sent fruits were avocado with 24%, mango with 18%, blueberries with 16%, grapes with 15%, pomegranate with 14% and finally, mandarins with 11%. Of all these fruits, shipments of pomegranate were the only ones that contracted.

In the case of avocados, last year's shipments reached 47,391 tons, growing 33% in volume and 34% in value to obtain 122 million dollars, consolidating itself as the most imported in Russia, on the Israeli avocado. A dangerous contender for the Peruvian avocado is the Colombian avocado, which only last year increased its share by 10%, reaching 4,776 tons.

The average price of avocados in Russia is $ 2.57 per kilogram, however, Israeli avocados obtained a higher price, 3.20 dollars per kilogram, Colombian avocados reached 2.78 dollars per kilogram, and Peruvian avocados only reached $ 3.20 per kilogram. $ 2.07 per kilogram.

Peruvian mango imports reached 11,768 tons for 23 million dollars, growing 101% in volume and 83% in value. It was priced at $ 1.94 per kilogram, 9% less than last year.

Blueberry shipments reached 8,827 tons, achieving 59 million dollars, 22% more in volume and 60% more in value in Russia, with 2,596 tons belonging to Peruvian blueberry shipments.
